Dental Implants

Dental implants in Amman, planned digitally before we begin

A dental implant is a titanium root fixed in the jawbone to carry a crown, a bridge or a fixed denture. At Dr. Shadi Alshaikh Clinic every implant starts with a 3D CBCT scan and a digital impression, then a plan you see on screen before any treatment.

Who is this for?

A dental implant replaces the root of a missing tooth and carries a crown, a bridge or a fixed denture on top. It is the option closest to a natural tooth when the bone and your general health allow it.

  • A single missing tooth, without grinding the neighbouring teeth as a bridge would
  • Several missing teeth and a wish for a fixed replacement instead of a removable denture
  • A loose denture that gets in the way of eating or speaking
  • A tooth that cannot be saved and needs a planned extraction and replacement

How we do it here

The same path for every patient: imaging, digital planning, then guided treatment.

  1. Examination and 3D imaging

A CBCT scan measures the amount and quality of bone and locates nerves and sinuses before any decision.

  2. Digital impression

The intraoral scanner replaces the traditional impression with a precise digital model of your teeth and gums.

  3. Digital planning

The implant position, angle and depth are set on screen and discussed with you together with the final tooth shape.

  4. Guided surgery

A surgical guide made from the plan directs the implant to its planned position, with less intervention and under microscope magnification when needed.

  5. Healing, then the crown

Once the implant has integrated with the bone, the digitally designed final crown is fitted to match your teeth in colour and shape.

The devices we rely on

  • 3D CBCT imaging
  • Intraoral digital scanner
  • Surgical microscope
  • Guided GBT cleaning

What to expect

  • Number of visits

Set by the doctor for your case after examination and imaging.

  • Anaesthesia

Usually local; further options are discussed when needed.

  • Integration period

Weeks to months depending on bone quality and implant position.

  • Immediate loading

A temporary tooth on the same day is possible in selected cases, decided by the doctor.

Aftercare

  • Follow the medication and the written instructions you receive after surgery
  • Avoid chewing on the implant site in the first days and keep to soft food
  • Careful oral hygiene, and no smoking, which slows healing
  • Regular reviews and GBT cleaning to protect the tissues around the implant

The information on this page is general education and does not replace a clinical examination. Every treatment plan is set after assessment at the clinic.

Risks and possible complications

Every surgical procedure carries some risk. These are the most common, and what we do to reduce them.

  • Infection at the implant site in the first weeks, usually managed with antibiotics and care.
  • Failure of the implant to fuse with the bone, which is rare, is detected early and reassessed after healing.
  • Temporary numbness of the lip or chin in the lower jaw if the implant sits close to the nerve; planning on the 3D scan aims to avoid it.
  • Inflammation of the tissues around the implant in the long term if hygiene or follow-up lapses.
  • Restoration problems such as a loosened screw or a chipped ceramic, repaired at the clinic.

What we do to reduce them: planning on a CBCT scan before any intervention, strict sterilisation, clear written instructions, and close follow-up after the procedure. If something unexpected happens, we tell you and treat it.

When this treatment may not be right for you

Not every case is ready now. These situations need preparation first, or a different option.

  • Uncontrolled diabetes or an unstable general condition, until it is stable in coordination with your physician.
  • Active, untreated gum disease; the gums are treated first.
  • Not enough bone at the site; it is built first, then the implant is placed.
  • A jaw that has not finished growing.
  • Some bone medications and previous radiotherapy to the jaws; a specific assessment is needed.

Alternatives we may discuss with you

If implants are not right now, we may discuss a fixed bridge on the neighbouring teeth, a removable denture, or preparing the bone first.

Frequently asked questions

General answers; your own plan is set after examination.

Is implant surgery painful?

It is done under local anaesthesia, so most patients feel no pain during the procedure. Mild discomfort for a few days afterwards is controlled with the prescribed medication.

How long does an implant last?

With good hygiene and regular reviews an implant can serve for many years. No dentist can guarantee a fixed period, because longevity depends on bone, gums and health habits.

Can I have an implant if I have little bone?

Often yes, after rebuilding the bone with grafting or a sinus lift. The CBCT scan shows this precisely.

Is it suitable for diabetics or smokers?

Controlled diabetes usually does not prevent implants after medical assessment. Smoking raises the complication rate and slows healing; stopping before and after surgery is advised.

Implant or bridge?

A bridge rests on the neighbouring teeth and requires grinding them. An implant replaces the missing root without touching other teeth and preserves the bone.

When do I get the final tooth?

After the implant has integrated with the bone, which the doctor confirms clinically and with imaging. In selected cases a temporary tooth can be fitted immediately.

How much do dental implants cost?

It depends on the number of implants, whether bone building is needed and the type of restoration. After examination you receive a written plan with cost and stages.
